Sustainable printing
We embarked last year on a project to buy paper and print as a Group and therefore raise our overall standard of environmental care. We are now rolling out a policy across the Group to do all printing on a minimum of 55% recycled paper. To help our businesses achieve this, we have developed an on-line roster of printers, who are all capable of providing NineLives 55 paper at a competitive price.
NineLives is printed on paper manufactured from 25% post-consumer waste, 30% pre-consumer waste and 45% original, chlorine-free fibre. The manufacturing mill which produces NineLives has been awarded the international standard ISO14001. Printing within Virgin's administrative offices is on 100% recycled paper. As well as printing responsibly we are also reviewing what we print – the use of inks, print processes, weights of paper, and so on. We've already done a lot of work in this area and will continue to work with Envirowise in the coming year to identify more opportunities to reduce our environmental impact through printing.
